Intro to Three Things

So, I was talking with my therapist, or counselor, or person who knows me better than I do, whatever you want to call them, and we collaboratively discovered that, like many other humans, I require positive feedback. Who knew? I get plenty of positive feedback from other people about the things I do, but it turns out that I rarely give myself positive feedback about anything. So, this is my attempt to remember, each work day, three things I did the day before that was useful, helpful, positive, good… well, you get the idea. So this is the inaugural entry of my daily affirmations.

No, I’m not going to read these to myself while looking in a mirror.

  1. I got my team’s roadmap and “big rocks” reporting structure in place and ready to keep up to date

  2. I spoke with two (2) managers, with whom I was not previously acquainted, about performance and career development of their employees, both of which are interested in transferring to my team.

  3. I helped my contractor fix a problem with his laptop; the effort involved there was very small in proportion to the gratitude he expressed to me.

That third thing there highlights to me how small actions on my part can make a big impact on other people.
