Livestream Giveaway Rules

We may do a number of “small giveaways” throughout the stream, each giveaway typically consisting of 1-2 booster packs from the current generation’s sets (e.g., right now it’s Scarlet and Violet). We may also do a “grand giveaway” of something cooler, such as a 151 poster collection, or a booster bundle or something like that.

Note: the “grand giveaway” will be at some random time during the stream chosen by us.

Who may enter the giveaway?

Anyone viewing the live stream may enter the giveaway.

Note: giveaways are limited to one win per address per stream unless the folks at that address have convinced me that they’re not using alt accounts to increase their chances of winning.

Please see below question, “What if I can’t give you my mailing address?”, though before entering.

How do I enter the giveaway?

Watch the stream, and drop “Cranky, enter me in the giveaway” in the chat. We will have a live list of entrants you can check for your username, and call out if we missed you, but we’re pretty good at watching the chat.

Why do you ban alt accounts?

The folks that watch our streams are giving us their time and attention, and the giveaways are a fun way to “give something back”. When the denizens of the giveaway tracker Discords come in with their armies of alt accounts, it makes the experience worse for both us and other reasonable and honest viewers.

The bottom line is this: it’s our stream, and we do not think alt accounts comport with our view of fairness.

What happens if I’m caught using alts?

Here is what will happen:

  • Your account(s) will be banned from the YouTube channel, Discord server, and anywhere else we may have platforms for the Cranky Old Cuber community.

  • You account will be reported to a large group of Pokémon-related content creators as confirmed alt users.

  • Any outstanding (i.e., unsent) giveaway(s) shipping to any address(es) associated with the account(s) will be FORFEITED.

For small giveaways, each viewer can win only once per stream.

For the grand giveaway, everyone who previously entered will be entered, meaning no entries will be accepted after the previous small giveaway drawing starts.

How does it work?

Do I need to be present to win?

YES. Once the winner is announced, we will set a 30 second timer, and if we don’t hear from you in chat before that timer goes off, we will take your name off the list for the giveaways and redraw from the remaining names.

What if I win?

The first thing you need to do is send an email to cranky@crankyoldcuber.com. We will respond with a word for you to drop in the live chat, and then we’ll know we’re likely to be talking to the owner of the YouTube account. Once we do that dance, just reply with your mailing address.

Note: Unless other arrangements have been made, you have one day to send us your mailing address, otherwise the prize will be considered DECLINED.

What if I can’t give you my mailing address?

Well, first, thank you for watching and supporting the stream, we appreciate it very much! We do have an option if you cannot give out your mailing address: We have a stock of unredeemed Pokémon TCG Live code cards, and we can send you 4 of those via email, if you’re able to exchange emails with an admittedly random, but relatively harmless old guy YouTuber.

If that option doesn’t work for you, there is, unfortunately, nothing we can do to get winnings to you. If you enter and we can’t send it to you, no worries, but we will redraw and someone else will have the opportunity to win the giveaway.

How do I get my stuff (in the United States)?

If you are in the United States, you have the option of receiving the sealed product or having the product opened on stream. If you choose to have your product opened on stream, just let us know if you want the bulk cards, or just “hits”, we’re happy to send either.

How do I get my stuff (outside the United States)?

If you are not in the United States, it’s a little more tricky. For the small giveaways, we would prefer to open the packs on stream and send the hits so we’re not spending a fortune mailing bulk cards all over the world. If you really want the sealed product, we can chat in email to find a solution to get you your stuff. One of the suggestions we’ve seen is we can hold stuff and send it all together on some cadence (monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, etc.).

If you win the grand giveaway, we’ll get it to you, unopened. We’ll also send anything else you’ve won and are still waiting on, of course.
